But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7) Read the whole chapter here.
When God sees you, he doesn't see what everyone else does. God sees something different. God sees something that not even those closest to you can see: your heart.
What is our heart? It's our intentions. It's what we mean when we say things. It's how we love or hate others deep down. It's what we really think of our neighbor, even when we tell him his music isn't too loud.
God doesn't just see blonde hair or brown eyes. God doesn't just see the type of clothing you wear. God doesn't just hear the words you say to people. God doesn't just see the way you treat others. God looks through all of that, and He sees your heart, your intentions.
Today let's remember that God sees our heart and our intentions. Ask God to give you good intentions and the strength to carry those out into actions of love.
